Founders Award
MUSEUM OF POP CULTURE
BRANDING, PRINT, & DIGITAL DESIGN
Overview
Founders Award is MoPOP’s annual benefit gala to honor an outstanding icon of popular music. The event is key in funding the museum’s educational programs, community engagement, and exhibitions.
Since 2007, Founders Award has celebrated talent whose noteworthy contribution to popular culture and the community has helped nurture the next generation of ideas and risk-takers. Past recipients of the Founders Award include Joe Walsh, Jimmy Page, Jackson Browne, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Carlos Santana, Buddy Guy, Billy Cox, Robbie Robertson, and The Doors.
Historically, Founders Award took on the look of the artist it was honoring. In 2018, I was asked to design a brand for the award that could be re-used year after year.
Event
The event consists of a dinner, auction, and youth performance, and ends with a performance by the honoree. I designed all print and digital collateral for the evening as well as all promotional material used in the lead-up to the event. I also designed swag given to the guests and a limited-edition poster signed by the honoree.
Founders Award 2018 was the most successful fundraising event in the museum’s history, raising over $950,000 in one evening. I’m honored to play a part in helping facilitate MoPOP’s mission and work in Seattle.
